Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV)
A PHEV, or Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle, is another category of NEV. These vehicles combine an internal combustion engine with an electric motor, primarily running on electricity until the battery is depleted. Once the battery runs low, the internal combustion engine seamlessly takes over. PHEVs can be charged externally through home chargers or public charging stations, making them an excellent choice for long-distance drivers, effectively alleviating range anxiety. Even when the battery is exhausted, the engine ensures that the wheels keep turning.
BYD has introduced a distinctive hybrid technology called Super DM Technology, which powers our PHEVs. This innovative system provides a range of benefits, including improved driving performance and reduced fuel consumption. Look for the DM or DMi designation in BYD model names to identify this revolutionary hybrid technology.
